As I grow in my career (and number of grey hairs), I am learning there is great value in stepping away for personal and professional growth. The Michigan ATHENA Leadership Conference is a space designed specifically for professional women who want to grow in leadership to level-up their ability to contribute to their communities and workplace. Its up north this October, at Crystal Mountain. Realizing life is full, this year’s event offers the complete conference option and also a one day option. It’s about meeting attendees where they are at in life and leaning into their professional growth needs, knowing capacity can look different for each of us. What initially drew me to the ATHENA Leadership Model was its emphasis on authentic, principled leadership. As a mother of (many) kiddos, working outside the home, I have labeled this chapter of life, “organized chaos.” And when we are in these “full modes,” or “juggling many hats” modes, it is even more critical to carve out dedicated time to step away, even briefly, to do a gut check; take in some introspective opportunities and learn from those who have walked in similar shoes-and made it to the other side- stronger and well equipped. This conference serves as a helpful environment to recharge that professional drive and refine leadership skills. One of the best aspects of MI ATHENA is its capacity to meet women exactly where they are in their professional journey. Whether you are starting day one of your career, navigating executive management, or leveraging your experience to retirement, this network accommodates everyone.
